Charlie Russell Show - Pieces of Reality will hang through the month of April
Charlie’s creative journey has wound through some places he never dreamed he would see and has taken him halfway around the world and back. Most of his life has been spent as a graphic designer, art director, and creative director. But photography has been his creative vent. Charlie doesn’t describe himself as a photographer as much as a designer with a camera. Consequently, his subject matter is very eclectic. Most of his work tries to bridge the gap between photography, illustration, and impressionism. Some of his work speaks to the social conditions he’s seen here and afar. The title of his show at the shop this month is “Pieces of Reality,” which is what photography is to him, a fraction of a second that will never be seen again. Charlie is also the founder of SAWs Virginia, an affiliate of SAWs, Inc., a nonprofit organization that builds wooden, recyclable, wheelchair ramps for those who cannot afford one on their own to help them regain their freedom, reconnect with their community and age in place.
