The owner of this piece purchased it at a street market in Cuba. The elegant nature of the piece called for a more elegant frame design. In this piece, we chose to frame it with a fillet, a liner, and an ornately carved Italian frame.
The movement of the frame mimicked the dancer's movement in the artwork, while the fillet on the inner part of the frame mirrored the copper of the frame. The liner brought a nice, neutral border that separated the harshness of the dark composition in the piece, which in turn tied the fillet, liner, and frame into one cohesive unit.
